God started his covenant family through an incredibly flawed man, Jacob. He was a deceiver. He was a striver. But eventually he came to see that God had unexpectedly given him his blessing because the family of God is unexpectedly blessed. Eventually Jacob came to embrace that in God's family things work differently.
